Deeny Kaplan, executive VP at The Kitchen, announced that they had begun with 1,700 hours of dubbing into Spanish in their new studios in Caracas in alliance with Cisneros Media and said that dubbing into all languages for Africa as well as Chinese had sparked for several markets. The statements were offered by Kaplan to PRODU while she was leaving Africa to go to Doha, Qatar. “What is exciting about this moment is not just that Turkish is being translated into every language, but the amount of languages entering Africa; it´s Chinese to Spanish, to Portuguese and French. There is such a diversity of languages being sold and bought to and fro that this gives us a great opportunity to offer more”. She said they had begun with 12 dubbing studios in Caracas but emphasized that this number could increase as their sales team consolidates requests. “The sky is the limit”, she said. In Miami, they have 18 studios for dubbing into English, French, and Brazilian Portuguese. Regarding the prices they are offering in Caracas, she said that in the last Mipcom, they had won all other companies considered competitors. “We are very happy about that”, although she stressed that there were many variables to take into account when making a budget: How soon do you need the job? How many voices are there? How many episodes? Are there scripts? Are there any songs?, graphs? There are too many variables to have a fixed price”.
