Univision launches new digital content house La Fabrica UCI

Univision Communications Inc. (UCI) unveiled La Fabrica UCI, a new in-house digital content production arm focused on creating high-quality, digital-first content for the Company’s digital platforms in Spanish and English. La Fabrica UCI further expands the Company’s digital efforts including UVideos, the first bilingual digital video network serving Hispanic America; Uforia, the leading Hispanic digital music service; Flama, a new digital destination for video content created for Hispanic millennials; a digital network of online and mobile apps and products including Univision.com, which continues to be the No. 1 most-visited Spanish-language website among U.S. online Hispanics and its award winning social media efforts. Boris Gartner, vice president and general manager of La Fabrica UCI, will lead this new digital venture and report to Isaac Lee, president Univision News and Fusion, and Mehul Nagrani, senior vice president and general manager, Digital. La Fabrica UCI, which will operate from production facilities in New York and Miami, will create content through partnerships, acquisitions and in-house content development. It will create, script, and produce original video for a series of new digital-native brands, as well as for Univision.com and UVideos. “In the past three years Univision has transformed from a niche network to a leading multiplatform media company with a strong focus on digital. In addition to operating a dedicated New York City-based production studio, La Fabrica UCI will manage a network of producers, directors, and contributors throughout the U.S. and Latin America and will leverage new partnerships such as the recently announced joint venture with Variety.La Fabrica UCI’s first original digital series, Medicina Desconocida, a 12-episode series features Univision’s chief medical correspondent, Dr. Juan Rivera in search for the strangest cures and most exotic medicines around the world, is now available exclusively on {UVideos.com}.
