WarnerMedia will grant US$100 million to help workers affected by the pause in their productions, reported its CEO, John Stankey in a memo addressed to its personnel.

The US$100 million would be for those working on WarnerMedia projects, including Warner Bros. Pictures, Warner Bros. Television, and HBO, communicated Variety.

Despite the situation, the launch of HBO Max is still set for May, reported Stankey. “Our technology teams have been working in unique circumstances and have rapidly adapted to a new way to work”. Likewise, the marketing team “has had to reformulate their plans to reach potential subscribers innovatively”.

However, the executive highlighted that at least ratings are increasing as more people work and are at home: CNN in the US increased their audience by 132% during Total Day and 167% in primetime from March 9. In digital, they have an average of more than 50 million unique visitors per day, more than twice their average in 2019. HBO is also reflecting a larger audience in all its platforms and genres.
