On #PRODUprimetime with Richard Izarra, VIX Chairman and CEO Rafael Urbina called the current pandemic a unique moment that will go down in history. “There will be an inflection point when mass behavior accelerates a trend that is already underway,” Urbina said, adding that all digital content is increasing. “This will only accentuate the big mobile and streaming trends.” The video publishing company has always been focused on digital, starting with short videos conceived for social media and evolving to feature films and OTT. He noted that VIX has seen more than three million downloads in a few short months. Considering today’s huge content demand, VIX executives decided to schedule the global release of Windows on the World with Edward James Olmos for Thursday, April 23. “We saw that the film’s content fulfills a need in the market and fits perfectly with the times we are going through.” He added that there are several productions in which VIX has taken part, whether as a co-producers or as a first window. With Windows on the World they thought about being a second window, but got the chance to do the premiere. “We increasingly try to do productions, but in a very selective way.” VIX is currently conducting a campaign together with Telemundo for the preview of one of its superseries and will do the promotion for the rest of the series to be watched on Telemundo.
