Arráncame la vida, one of the top-grossing films in Mexicos history, makes its U.S. television debut exclusively on Cinelatino, the nations leading Spanish-language premium film channel, which is distributed in more than four million homes across the U.S. on all major cable, satellite and telco providers.The most expensive Mexican film ever produced, Arráncame la vida was selected to represent Mexico in the 2009 Oscar Awards in the category for Best Foreign Film, where it was one of the top 10 semifinalists out of 67 entries.Arráncame la vida is based on the best-selling book by Ángeles Masretta. The film centers on a love story which unfolds in the 1930s during Mexicos post-revolutionary period. Following the Mexican Revolution, General Andrés Ascencio begins gaining political power when he marries a 15-year-old girl, Catalina, who becomes obligated to live a life as a wife, the first lady, and the mother of his children.The film features Ana Claudia Talancón (Catalina) and Daniel Jiménez Cacho as the lead actors, along with José María de Tavira, Miriam Jiménez González, Irene Azuela, Julio Bracho and Camila Sodi.In an effort to increase Cinelatinos Facebook fan base, the channel engaged Ana Claudia Talancón to participate in a contest in which viewers had the opportunity to interview her by asking her a career-related question and posting it on Cinelatinos Facebook wall between Monday, September 18 and Sunday, October 2. Over the course of the contest, Cinelatino saw a 26% increase in the companys Facebook fan base.
