Guillermo Ríos and Leticia López, writers of hits such as Capadocia and the film No Se Aceptan Devoluciones, are responsibles for the screenplay of the new Azteca telenovela Así En El Barrio Como En El Cielo (120×60′), produced by Fides Velasco. It will premiere in 2015 and is inspired by stories from the golden age of Mexican film and its traditional characters. Both writers spoke to PRODU about the development of this new project: Its a fun story, but with traditional melodrama because we want the viewer to relate and experience different emotions. Así En El Barrio Como En El Cielo is rooted in the golden age of 1950s Mexican film and in characters such as Pepe el Toro, Tin-Tan and Joaquín Pardavé. Its inspired by this urban film genre but with contemporary touches, adding formal elements of series like Capadocia, said Ríos.López said Azteca is not afraid to do original productions at a time where adaptations are growing in popularity; however, Both Guillermo and I are fortunate to always be able to work on original work like we did with Capadocia for HBO, the telenovela Mientras Haya Vida for Azteca, and Las Aparicio, which represents a vote of confidence. Elisa Salinas has given us creative freedom and is infusing fresh air into the screen.Así En El Barrio Como En El Cielo stars Marcela Guirado and Luciano Zacharski.
