Banijay Entertainment has announced the return of Deal or No Deal Mexico (Lo Tomas o Lo Dejas) and the U.S. Hispanic market after a five-year break.
Produced by Endemol Shine Boomdog, with post-production by Wide Angle—both part of Banijay Americas—the game show will air on Las Estrellas in Mexico and UNIMÁS for the U.S. Hispanic audience, with a total of 60 episodes. It premiered on UNIMÁS last Monday, the 31st, at 7pm, airing Monday through Friday. It debuted on ViX on Tuesday, April 1, and on Las Estrellas soon.
Hosted by actor and presenter Paul Stanley, Deal or No Deal Mexico challenges contestants’ intuition as they select sealed briefcases containing surprise cash amounts while negotiating offers from the mysterious Banker. With a jackpot of US$100,000 at stake, every decision matters, keeping viewers on the edge of their seats.
This marks Stanley’s first time as a game show host. “Honestly, it’s a blessing to do this show. I’m really nervous because it’s hard not to get emotionally involved with the contestants. Of course, you want them to win the US$100,000, and you connect with their stories. I’m very nervous but also very grateful for the opportunity,” Stanley told PRODU.
He explained that while the format may seem simple, it has many technical aspects. “It’s a huge challenge. It may sound cliché, but this is truly the power of Latin America coming together—Mexicans, Panamanians, Colombians, Venezuelans, people from all over. In the end, we don’t have major differences; we understand each other, we speak the same language, and it makes the show very fun.”
Deal or No Deal has been adapted in more than 80 territories, with over 350 productions since its debut in the Netherlands in 2002.
Alejandro Rincón, CEO of Endemol Shine Boomdog, stated: “Deal or No Deal offers an exciting and easy-to-follow game, making it a must-watch spectacle. This 60-episode order represents a major move by TelevisaUnivision and will attract a loyal audience, both new and returning fans in Mexico and the U.S. Hispanic market.”
Lucas Green, Chief Content Officer of Operations at Banijay Entertainment, added: “We are witnessing a global resurgence of game shows, with Deal or No Deal leading the trend. Its return to Mexico and the U.S. Hispanic market proves the incredible and lasting appeal of the format for audiences of all generations.”
