In light of the upcoming presidential elections, Discovery en Español will be launching various programs focusing on key issues of concern for the U.S. Hispanic community, such as immigration and unemployment. The network will premiere two new original documentaries including Caras del odio, which covers hate crimes against Hispanics, and Desamparados, a glimpse into the lives of Hispanic families struggling to survive in tough economic situations. Caras del odio will air on Oct. 28 at 9pm along with Objetivo el norte at 10pm, a documentary examining the immigration debate, and La ruta de la muerte at 11pm, which follows a group of migrants into the U.S. Desamparados will air at 9pm on Nov. 4 along with Deportados, an investigation project taking cameras into the largest detention center in the U.S. to tell the stories of immigrants being deported, and Viviendo en la sombra, which profiles illegal immigrants in the country. As part of our commitment to our audience, we feel a responsibility during this pre-election period to offer unique and quality content that entertains while informing our viewers about current affairs said Ivan Bargueiras, general manager, Discovery U.S. Hispanic.
