Discovery U.S. Hispanic announced quarterly viewership results for Discovery en Español and Discovery Familia. According to Nielsen, both U.S. Hispanic networks continued to grow on a steady basis and achieved their highest first quarter on record. Discovery en Español was positioned as the #1 Hispanic pay TV net on Sundays during prime time among Hispanic Persons 18-49 and continued its leadership role as the 2nd highest-rated Hispanic pay TV channel across all major demo groups.In addition, sister network Discovery Familia grew 144% versus 1Q12 among Hispanic Persons 18-49during prime time 7-11pm. The network also increased its viewership 100% among its core target of Hispanic Women 18-49 during prime time 7-11pm, and 31% during total day 9am-12am,placing the network among the top 3 Hispanic cable nets with W18-49 during total day. The consistent growth of our performance results demonstrates the strong and enduring relationship both Discovery en Español and Discovery Familia have with the Hispanic audience”, said Iván Bargueiras, general manager of the Discovery U.S. Hispanic Networks. Discovery Familias ratings growth during 1Q2013 among Hispanic Women was driven by top series and specials such as La Llegada del Bebé (Bringing Home Baby), Mes del Corazón (Heart Month), No Sabía que Estaba Embarazada (I Didnt Know I Was Pregnant). For Discovery en Español, 1Q2013 represents the fifth consecutive quarter in which the network posts year-over-year quarterly growth. The network continues its leadership position as the second most watched Hispanic pay TV net during prime time 7-11pm. Top series and specials were: Los Archivos FBI (The FBI Files), A Vista de Pájaro (Earth Flight), Cuerpos Extraños (Extreme Bodies) and Planeta Humano (Human Planet).
