Edye reaches more than 14 million subscribers across U.S. Hispanics, Latin America, and Brazil
Coinciding with its sixth anniversary in the market, Edye, HITN’s SVOD platform for preschoolers, held its first showcase. Guillermo Sierra, General Director of Television and Digital Services at HITN—a nonprofit with 45 years of operations in the U.S.—and Ríchard Izarra, Editor-in-Chief of PRODU, the outlet broadcasting the showcase, led the introduction.
“HITN is a nonprofit organization. What we do benefits society, benefits children. Kids are big consumers of video content and deserve a safe entertainment space that also provides elements that contribute to their development and growth. That’s why six years ago at HITN, we created Edye—the first premium platform fully dedicated to offering the highest-quality preschool content, with the broadest distribution possible and using the most advanced technology available at the time,” said Sierra.

Currently, Edye reaches more than 14 million subscribers across U.S. Hispanics, Latin America, and Brazil.
The showcase began with the Content segment—“the heart of Edye,” as Sierra noted—led by Erika Vogt-Lowell, Director of Programming and Acquisitions. This was followed by the Distribution segment, presented by HITN’s General Manager Eric Turpin, with participation from Luis Torres-Bohl, President of Castalia Communications (Edye’s rep in Latin America); Javier López Casella, Distribution Agent in Brazil; Cristian Novoa Vergara, Director of Content and Ad Sales at VTR Chile; Fernando Magalhães, Director of Programming and Content at Claro Brasil; and Laura Ferreira, Content Supervisor at WATCH Brasil.
Sergio Leos, HITN Marketing Advisor, spoke about marketing initiatives and promotional activities with strategic partners. Maximiliano Vaccaro, HITN’s VP of Digital Services, showcased the platform’s technological side.
Expanding Edye’s reach beyond its SVOD service, Sierra announced the launch of Edye TV, a linear Pay-TV channel.
“Edye has operated as an SVOD service throughout the region. Today, we’re pleased to announce that, at the request of our affiliated operators, we’re launching the linear pay-TV channel Edye TV this month. It features a curated selection from our extensive catalog, programmed with an innovative system that reduces the perception of reruns and keeps our young audience engaged. Edye TV is now available across Latin America and has launched with more than six million subscribers,” he said.
They are also working with various free-to-air TV channels to roll out Edye programming blocks in different markets, offering a “valuable service and expanding our brand.”
Sierra also highlighted a collaboration with the Ministry of Education in the state of Campeche, Mexico, in coordination with the U.S. Consulate in Mérida.
“We’ve designed a program that brings Edye’s original productions into public school classrooms—including ¿Cómo Se Dice?, where kids are beginning to say their first words in English,” he shared.
“Edye Time has allowed us to expand in-classroom activities and give kids a unique and memorable experience,” added Lydia Berrón, Head of Cooperation and Institutional Relations at the Campeche Ministry of Education.
