Iván Sánchez, Angélica Rivera, and Diego Klein star in Con Esa Misma Mirada, produced by Estudios Argos for ViX
Produced by Estudios Argos, now owned by TelevisaUnivision, the series Con Esa Misma Mirada was unveiled and is set to premiere on ViX on Friday, the 21st. The show consists of three seasons. During the event, lead actors Angélica Rivera, Diego Klein, and Iván Sánchez, along with Francisco Casasús, Director of Estudios Argos, discussed the project, a modern adaptation of Señora Isabel, originally written by Colombian writer Bernardo Romero. They emphasized that this story aims to empower women.
Casasús highlighted that this production marks the beginning of a new chapter for Argos under TelevisaUnivision: “We are introducing our first ViX series produced at Argos, now within the TelevisaUnivision ecosystem, in this new phase, and with an outstanding cast. There are many layers to this project, starting with the selection of director Moisés Ortiz Urquidi, who guided us through pre-production but sadly passed away two weeks before filming during a script reading. We had to find a new director, and Pitipol Ibarra stepped in, believing in the project. We are excited and confident that this is a great production and a compelling drama,” he stated.
Cast of Con Esa Misma Mirada, a TelevisaUnivision production
Casasús welcomed the cast, led by Angélica Rivera, who returns to television after an 18-year absence. Her last production for this company was Destilando Amor. She noted how much production methods have changed: “It was fascinating to step into a production that felt like making a film. I have spent my entire career in television, and this format is completely different. We shoot in multiple angles—close-ups, wide shots—requiring many takes. But I’m happy to be here with colleagues who have supported and guided me. There is a significant difference between film and TV, but with great direction and production, I felt at home,” she shared.
Rivera plays Eloísa Obregón, a seemingly perfect woman who, after years of sacrifice as a wife and mother, faces a personal and family crisis upon discovering her husband’s infidelity. This revelation leads her on a journey of self-discovery, during which she enters a romantic relationship with a younger man. Rivera admitted that portraying this character was a challenge: “I embraced this opportunity as an actress because my character realizes that she is still capable of love and of feeling like a woman. This story strongly empowers women. Audiences will see a very different Angélica Rivera compared to my past telenovela roles,” she explained.
The former First Lady of Mexico added that, despite the story having been written and produced years ago, its themes remain relevant today: “This is a modern story that helps women overcome adversity. It represents women and the self-love we all deserve. We are living in an important time where women need to empower themselves and break stereotypes—such as the notion that a woman in her 50s or older cannot fall in love. Women have the right to be free, date whomever they want, embrace their bodies, and most importantly, be happy.”
The main cast includes Ximena Herrera, Pamela Almanza, Sofía Castro, Nicolás Haza, and Iliana Fox. The series features two of the original story’s adapting screenwriters, Jimena Romero and Gilma Peña, alongside Camila Ibarra.
The general producers are Epigmenio Ibarra and Verónica Velasco, with Patricia Benítez serving as executive producer and Fides Velasco handling production. The series was directed by Alba Gil and Pitipol Ibarra, who stepped in following the passing of acclaimed film and TV director Moisés Ortiz Urquidi.
Con Esa Misma Mirada is a story that has been adapted multiple times. Some of the most notable versions include Mirada de Mujer, produced by Argos for TV Azteca; Si Nos Dejan, produced by W Studios for TelevisaUnivision in 2021; Ana de Nadie, produced by Estudios RCN in 2023; and Victoria, created by Telemundo in 2007.
