Tía Alison, the new series produced by Estudios RCN, starring Juliette Pardau and Rodrigo Candamil, premiered on Wednesday 26 at 9:30pm, local time, on Canal RCN and is available on the ViX platform from the 27th.

The Colombian production is directed by Víctor Cantillo (Leandro Díaz) and Israel Sánchez (Hasta Que la Plata Nos Separe), Andrés Santamaría (Lala’s Spa) is the Executive Producer. It’s the story of Alison Párraga, a young woman who when she finally fulfills the American dream must face a great family loss having to decide between her dream and assuming the role of mother of her three nephews. Along the way, Alison will have to deal with economic and legal problems, social prejudices, parenting conflicts, as well as dilemmas of friendship and love.

Director Víctor Cantillo said during a press conference in Bogotá that the series combines elements of drama and humor to generate an impact on the audience. “It will have a very ‘bacana’ (great) mixture because if we manage to make an episode where people cry and have fun at the same time, as I think it will happen, the series will be a success.” Likewise, actress Juliette Pardau, starring in the series, considers it more than a light comedy. “Aunt Alison has the perfect balance, there’s drama, funny moments, nostalgia, love, discord. I think that in that balance you can relate because that’s what real life looks like.”

Israel Sánchez assured that the directing process was pleasant and praised the cast involved in the production. “We gave everything we had and also the actors. I feel fortunate being involved in this project and its wonderful cast.” He recognized the work of Héctor Moncada who developed the script. “He was always very dedicated and expectant about what we directors were doing with his story. I think we gave him one hundred percent more than he expected.”

Producer Andrés Santamaría explained that the project began to take shape in 2022 and that pre-production was an arduous task. “It was quite long, it lasted almost four months to choose the casting, find the locations, the art and each of the elements that had to be ready to start the recording”. He pointed out that among the biggest challenges was to find the tone of each of the characters (which in his opinion come from stereotypes) and design sets that looked believable for some indoor scenes.

As for the recordings, which lasted four and a half months, Santamaría revealed that a good part of them was made in poorer sectors of Bogotá such as La Candelaria, La Concordia Park, and Carrera Séptima. Also, for the first chapter several scenes were shot in Los Angeles.

Tía Alison has a large cast that, in addition to Juliette Pardau and Rodrigo Candamil (Gustavo Orjuela), includes Brian Moreno, Manuela González, Tuto Patiño, Humberto Dorado, Margalida Castro, Paola Moreno, and Laura Junco, among others.
