Since last March 23, the Mexican film Me Estás Matando Susana is part of Blim’s catalogue, and its creator, the filmmaker Roberto Sneider from the production company La Banda Films, assured that currently these are the new distribution windows for cinema, when they are developing two projects for SVOD platforms.
“After the big screen, it is the ideal platform to exhibit films. SVOD platforms have had significant development, which broadens the range of what we can produce, and thanks to this, we see contents for specific audiences. With this, we all win, both the audience and we as filmmakers to do different things,” commented the filmmaker.
Sneider stated that although in the past he was never interested in producing for TV, “nowadays, interesting things are being made and there are many possibilities of inventing different things, therefore, now I am interested and developing a series for SVOD platforms. I am looking for a partner to support us in lifting it. I am also working on a film project, but with elements that work perfectly for these new windows.”
To end, he expressed his opinion that Mexico is going through a great moment in cinema, with the interest of creators in making series; however, “taking into account how nerve-wrecking it can be to compete for these new spaces, we don´t give them the time nor resources required for things to be done well. We hope that from now on, we can bet more on quality than on volume.”
