HBO Max and Discovery+ will combine into a single platform

David Zaslav, CEO of Discovery, announced at a conference for investors that among the strategies of the new company Warner Bros is to unite their two OTTs, HBO Max and Discovery+, into a single platform.
With the merger between WarnerMedia and Discovery expected in April this year, which will be led by Zaslav, the idea is that this new platform will have three types of subscription: one free and two paid (one cheaper with advertising and another without advertising with a higher fee).
With this strategy the goal is to reach everyone, particularly with the free version, Zaslav pointed out.
Regarding the budget that the new company will allocate for content, he stated that although they will invest more in production, the focus is to compete intelligently with other platforms. Their plan is not to increase spending just to have more content. The idea is not to exceed the expense of both companies together.
HBO Max, which has more than 73 million subscribers, is currently offered in Latin America in two plans: one standard and one for mobile phones, with some free productions, while Discovery+, which has 22 million subscribers, is currently only available in Brazil on a paid plan.
