Hemisphere Media Group, Inc. has entered into an agreement with Laguna Productions, Inc. to acquire exclusive worldwide transmission rights in perpetuity to 25 Mexican and U.S. Hispanic movie titles.
Rights to the films include all forms of transmission, including pay-TV, free-TV, VOD, over-the-top, and digital.
The package features a mix of highly entertaining comedy and action-packed films starring some of the most popular Mexican movie stars, among them: Luis Fernando Peña (El Chapo, Sin Nombre, Amar Te Duele), Gerardo Taracena (El Violin, Man on Fire, The Mexican, Apocalypto), Alan Chiangerotti (The Mexican, Gente Comun, Enemigo Intimo), and Maya Zapata (Border Town, Bajo La Misma Luna, All Inclusive, Run Coyote Run), among many others.
“We’re excited to acquire this package of very attractive movies from Laguna, which offers us first-rate content for Cinelatino, the nation’s leading Spanish-language movie channel, as well as for our other networks and platforms. Acquiring all rights in perpetuity allows us the ability to deliver the movies to our audiences on the platform of their choice,” said Alan Sokol, president of Hemisphere.
