La Academia will be led this season by Eduardo Capetillo

In just a few hours, the 35 members of the next class of La Academia will enter the newly renovated facilities of La Academia 2011, featuring the most impressive cutting-edge technology in the history of television. In Mexico City, former VP of Programming for Azteca América, Alberto Santini Lara, presented the new features of La Academia 2011 and highlighted that it would be the first reality show in the world to be broadcast in 3-D. Also present at the ceremony to announce the names of the 35 participants of La Academia 2011 were Roberto Ramagnoli, VP of Entertainment for Azteca América and the reality show’s executive producer, Magda Rodríguez. For the first time in its decade-long history, La Academia, led this season by Eduardo Capetillo, will also be an on-line school, in keeping with the academy’s commitment to Spanish-speaking youth working to make their dreams come true. Also new to this season is the most lavish set ever built for a reality show, inspired by the extravagant stage productions of Lady Gaga, Madonna, and sets for productions in Europe and the United States. In addition to the weekly tests administered to the student participants, La Academia 2011 will be a platform for international music stars and Hollywood celebrities who every Sunday will visit the homes of Latin families as part of the most impressive, spectacular, and dynamic reality show of all time. La Academia 2I011 by the numbers: Over 200 people worked on the remodel, over 18 miles of cables were installed, 40 remotely operated cameras, 48 monitors, and 60 microphones and 800 production crew members.
