Latin American cable operators emphasize the need for technological solutions for all budgets

The 2013 Cable Show featured the breakfast-conference Challenges to creating a total consumer experience at home: the Latin America vision. It was hosted by NCTA and sponsored by Arris.The talks featured Diego Eleta, Director of Operations of Panamas Cable Onda; Raymundo Fernández, Adjunct General Director of Megacable Comunicaciones of Mexico; Patricio Marín, VP of Planning for Inter of Venezuela; and Germán Iaryczower, VP of Sales for Latin America and the Caribbean of Arris.The panelists emphasized the importance of having technology providers offer solutions for all budgets, because subscribers in the region cannot afford the rates U.S. pay-TV consumer pay. The speakers also underscored the need to educate consumers about the services offered and cyber security, among other concerns.Megacables Fernández and Inters Marín said it was important for subscribers to have control over their Wi-Fi. If consumers dont have control over their Wi-Fi and dont have the right equipment, we cannot provide them with the support they need, said Marín.Arris Iaryczower said it was important to offer different solutions to the Latin American market. Megacables Fernández emphasized the growth potential of pay-TV and broadband in Mexico, and the need to develop products that meet their needs.
