PRODU spoke with Lino García, general manager of ESPN Deportes, who stressed the fact that ESPN and ESPN Deportes work together to deliver the total Hispanic market not just English-speaking but also Spanish-speaking Hispanics. For us its important to super-serve sports fans, and we do that not just with one network but in both languages. Thats really what its about. We do that with live events, news and information, and as we heard today, with original programming thats compelling, powerful and really hits the mark García explained. What we always strive to do is to be a step ahead, listen and be at the pulse of the sports fan.The presentation also introduced ESPN Sync, a web-based application that will be an interactive resource for watching the game at home or through a mobile device. Garcia calls it a companion tool for the sports fan incorporating social conversation, background, stats, ESPN analyst information and more. Were very excited about it. It allows for a lot of advertising opportunities he said. García also mentioned that Hispanic TV for cable networks still has a lot of room for maturing. Weve been around for 10 years and we still feel like theres such an upward slant in our growth on multiple platforms. For us the landscape is really robust and this upfront will certainly be indicative of that. We really look forward to a strong 2014 and beyond World Cup year he concluded.
