Scripps Networks Interactive will not renew its streaming agreement with Netflix when this expires at the end of the year, said Burton Jablin, COO of Scripps on Monday 7th November on the company’s earnings conference call.
The executive explained that the company made the strategic decision because the deal does not provide the kind of dual revenue model that the company feels best monetizes its content. Scripps Networks announced the Netflix deal in late 2014.
Kenneth Lowe, CEO of Scripps, highlighted the focus on dual revenue streams, meaning advertising and distribution revenue.
