Basáñez: Secretos de Familia is a project that can be successful in the LatAm market

Actor Sergio Basáñez spoke to PRODU about his participation on the new Azteca telenovela co-produced with Disney Media Networks, Secretos de Familia. It is the Mexican version of Brothers & Sisters, to premiere next Monday, May 13th at 8:30pm. Basáñez also spoke about the content on today’s television in Mexico, adding that programmers should focus more on series.“I was on A Corazón Abierto, also a co-production with Disney, and they liked my work. I believe Secretos de Familia is a project with a certain Mexican touch that can be successful in the Latin American market and worldwide. My character is the one played by Rob Lowe in the original series, but changed from politician to businessman,” said Basáñez.When asked his opinion of television content in Mexico, he said he didn’t watch domestic TV. “I don’t like the work being done with novelas; I like series and that what I watch. The entire world is turning to that type of content and we should do the same. There is a large market because it’s not just broadcasting, people become fans and that’s where the future is,” added Basáñez.Lastly, the actor said that, being a well-known story with great American actors, he hopes the new Mexican version will be as successful as the original.
