Samuel Duque Duque, president at TIS Productions: This year marks four years of continued success for our reality production unit on Colombia's Caribbean coast

2024 is a fantastic year for TIS Productions, revealed its president Samuel Duque Duque. “We recognize that 2024 is a year of industry consolidation and platform reshuffling, which might seem at odds with our success. However, for us, it’s proving to be a time of significant growth,”  he said, after emphasizing that the seeds they sowed have flourished in the past two years.

All four business units are thriving in both Colombia and Mexico. “Our original content unit is particularly successful,” he explained. “We’re leveraging our intellectual property to develop exciting new projects, and we’ve found strong partners on various platforms who believe in TIS.” He added that production services are also experiencing positive growth.

“This year marks four years of continued success for our reality production unit on Colombia’s Caribbean coast.  This strategically located hub, leveraging Colombia’s tax incentives, has produced content for a global audience, including Italy, Germany, England, Brazil, Mexico, the United States, and Colombia,” he said.

Their production services unit is booming, securing a high volume of projects from diverse clients, he explained. This includes platforms, open television stations in Mexico, the Hispanic US, and Colombia, along with productions for the Anglo market.

Highlighting the company’s infrastructure, he emphasized that 2024 is a strong year not just for content creation, but also for facilities. “We boast six studios, a dedicated stage city, and a robust post-production infrastructure,” he explained. “These resources are not only powering our own projects but also opening doors for industry collaboration. We’re thrilled to see a positive response and are working alongside our industry peers – both colleagues and competitors – within the TIS ecosystem. This collaborative spirit within the TIS house brings us immense joy and satisfaction,” he noted.

HOW TO FACE A DIFFICULT YEAR WITH GOOD RESULTS?
Unveiling the key to their success, he emphasized passion: “We’re undeniably in love with this industry.” This translates to a deep understanding of their client’s needs and the ability to seamlessly combine creative and administrative expertise, going beyond simply fulfilling their requests—they partner with them by crafting creative strategies, demonstrating adaptability, resilience, and unwavering creativity throughout all stages, not just in writing and production, but also in developing business models.

“Since last year, the Latin American industry, in particular, has seen a shift towards diverse financing models. Studios and production houses are actively seeking new ways to support our partners – platforms, pay channels, and open television alike. This opens exciting opportunities for us to collaborate on creative processes from the very beginning, fostering mutual growth”, he said.

“Our success stems from a combination of factors: adaptability, resilience, investment in talent, and a phenomenal team that shares our vision for the Latin American market. We take a measured approach, constantly analyzing industry trends. By leveraging TIS’s 26-year history and wealth of experience, we translate this knowledge into tangible benefits for our clients, partners, and colleagues,” Duque concluded.
