Ricardo Hernández Anzola, with more than 25 years as a writer, is one of the four producers who is developing the six-episode documentary series, Obsesión, about the history of the telenovela, the star genre of Latin American TV, which has never been the subject of a production of this type.
Hernández Anzola mentioned in EN VIVO with Ríchard Izarra that the team formed with Jorge Granier and his new company Rubicon Global, Rolando Loewenstein (Filmco Mallorca) and Jhony Pulido Mora, “gives us a lot of confidence to go to market, because they have all the experience in sales, production, in the creative aspect, and they also have a lot of confidence in the project because the subject we want to deal with is very important for all Latin Americans. Hence the title we have given it: the telenovela has been a source of obsession for the public, for its creators, for its market, for our culture. So I think we have the combination of knowledge about an extremely interesting topic and the right people to give this topic the treatment it deserves,” Hernández Anzola emphasized.
The writer and director recalled that they began working on this project in 2023 and from that moment on they began to put together a team that has been contributing different angles of knowledge on the subject. “We have been refining and adjusting the scale we want for the documentary, developing strategies with partners and at this moment we are already in the phase of presenting it. It is a six-chapter miniseries about the entire history of the Latin American telenovela, from its origins to the present. We are talking with people who may be interested in bringing this documentary to the screens,” he said.
